An erupting volcano can be a fearsome sight, even to your adventurous Beaker Creatures! Safely re-create this terrific event on a smaller scale as lava spills over the sides of your homemade volcano.
When an acid (vinegar) and a base (baking soda) meet, they create a gas called carbon dioxide. This creates a bubbling effect that will wow your little ones!
Caution: Perform this experiment only under adult supervision, and near a sink for easy cleanup.
You will need the Beaker Creatures Magnification Chamber to make the experiment you see below. If you don’t have that, any container will work!
First, pour 1/2 cup of vinegar into the chamber.
Add a food coloring of your choice to the vinegar. Just a few drops!
Next, add 1/2 cup of water to the mixture.
Add 1 squirt of dish soap to make the eruptions move slower and last longer.
Last, add 2 tsp of baking soda to the chamber.
Watch the lava erupt from this mini volcano!
Enjoy making this mixture again and again for explosive fun at any time!
