As more and more people pass their time indoors these days, puzzle shops around the country have seen a surge of interest in their fun, brain-teasing creations. Help your preschooler get in on the puzzle-building fun with some of our favorites, or follow our quick suggestion to make a preschool-friendly puzzle of your own!

Make Your Own Puzzles

With a little crafty know-how, making a fun preschool puzzle is a simple way to keep your kids engaged and entertained as they learn at home. First, find a large, bright image that’s on a sturdy backing; the front of a cereal or toy box works perfectly, as does printing out an image and gluing it to some spare cardboard. Then, cut your puzzle into pieces; start with 5-7 piece puzzles for younger kids, and work your way to a higher piece count as your kids get older. Finally, jumble your pieces together before spreading them out on the table and challenging your kids to put them back together. With a little time and DIY spirit, there’s no limit to the number of puzzles you can make at home!

Alphabet Puzzle Cards

In addition to making your own preschooler-approved puzzles, you can also check out our puzzles designed especially for little ones! Shaped like all 26 letters of the alphabet, the two-piece puzzles in our Alphabet Puzzle Cards set are easy to solve and sized for little hands. In addition to building letter recognition, each puzzle also features vocabulary words that start with the same letter. Cows and cars and cakes – oh yeah!

Number Puzzle Cards

Your little ones can also build hands-on early math skills with our Number Puzzle Cards! This set of 20 two-piece puzzles helps kids build number recognition and fine motor skills as they count from 1 to 20. Each puzzle also features fun animal friends that help kids visualize their numbers; from 1 giraffe to 20 bumblebees, you’ll meet a whole learning menagerie!

Magnetic Counting Vehicle Puzzles

Most puzzles require a flat floor or table, but with our Magnetic Counting Vehicle Puzzles, your kids can take the building fun vertical. Each piece of this set’s five puzzles features a magnetic backing, so they’re reading to stick to your fridge, filing cabinet, whiteboard, and more! As they build, you kids will also construct their own fleet of vehicles, from a car to a boat to a plane!

Jumbo Dinosaur Floor Puzzles

Who says puzzles have to be small? Our Jumbo Dinosaur Floor Puzzles turn puzzle-building into a prehistoric adventure of epic proportions! Whether they’re building a stegosaurus or a triceratops or a t-rex, your kids will build fine motor skills as they pop the oversized foam pieces into place. Each floor puzzle measures over 4 feet long when completed, and features two images: there’s a full dinosaur on one side, and a fossil-style skeleton on the other!
